Emotional Intelligence: Understanding Emotions to Facilitate Performance
Emotional Intelligence: Understanding Emotions to Facilitate Performance
If we are not aware of our emotions and understand how they impact our behaviour, then we are at the mercy of the situations around us. We become reactors to the people and the stressors in our environment. For example, someone might do our say something which triggers an emotional response, and a subsequent, automatic behaviour will result. In this circumstance our personal power is diminished.
On the contrary, if we become aware of our emotions, we can recognise whether they will produce a desirable behaviour or can adjust if necessary. We are in a position of power by controlling our response to the situation.
In this workbook you will take a journey through your emotional experience as it relates to the concept of emotional intelligence. You will be given opportunity to deepen your self-awareness, reflect on how you respond to the emotions of others and identify strategies for developing emotional control to apply to your behaviours and motivations.
