Imposter Syndrome: Overcoming feelings of self-doubt to internalise success
"Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right."
I love this quote by Henry Ford. It gets to the very essence of our brain and how powerful it is in shaping our reality. When we are unconscious to the going-ons of our brain we are truly at its mercy and the programming we have received since we were kids. The experiences we had, our relationships with others and the messages we received create thought patterns and behavioural habits that go on to influence our later years. This is referred to as our brain's wiring.
The way our brain wires itself during the ages of 0 to 7 years of age, plays a major part in how we perceive and interpret our adult experiences. Sometimes the wiring is constructive, but other times it can be destructive. By becoming self-aware and conscious of what we are thinking (and perhaps exploring the "why" behind our thoughts) we can begin to decide whether we want to keep this wiring, or make a change by re-wiring our brain.
Whilst researching this topic of Imposter Syndrome I gained insight into my own brain wiring and realised I myself have thoughts of imposterism. In fact, I realised these imposterism thoughts have guided much of my adult life without me realising. I thought everyone thought this way... apparently not. I have put together information and exercises I found useful in exploring my own imposter syndrome thoughts and hope you find value like I did. Together we can re-wire our brain to remove the internal barriers which hold us back from achieving our goals. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or want to dive deeper into this topic.
